Journey Home to Your Ancestral Roots

So many of us in the Celtic and European diaspora feel a quiet pull toward the lands our ancestors came from: the stone circles, the holy wells, the old crafts and songs, the foods that shaped our family lineages. Wild Atlantic Journeys exists to help you answer that call.

I'm Julie Wardwell, a Clinical Ayurvedic Practitioner with Celtic ancestry. Before my work in Ayurveda, I spent more than twenty-five years as a travel agent, where I was an international travel expert, specializing in Celtic journeys to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and beyond. Today I bring those two worlds together, helping people plan journeys that nourish both body and spirit.

Ancestral Travel Consultations

Whether you are dreaming of a pilgrimage to ancient sites or an independent trip shaped entirely around your heritage, I can help you plan it. Consultations cover spiritual journeys and pilgrimages to destinations across Europe, and may include:

  • Sacred sites, stone circles, holy wells, and pilgrimage routes

  • Experiences with traditional craftspeople, musicians, and storytellers

  • Eco-friendly and heritage accommodation

  • Fresh, local, organic food and seasonal dining

  • Researching and booking small-group and independent tours

  • Ayurvedic guidance for staying well while you travel

How it works

  1. A complimentary video call. We talk about your ancestry, your hopes for the journey, and how you like to travel.

  2. Research and options. I research possibilities and email them to you, and we refine them together, with a follow-up call if helpful.

  3. Your personalized plan. Once I know what you need, I send a proposal and fee, and we bring your journey to life.

Small-Group Journeys to Ireland

I've traveled three times with Wild Routes Ireland, whose small-group journeys through the west of Ireland bring together stone circles, traditional crafts, trad music, storytelling, and fresh organic food. They offer three journeys each year. The first two of 2027 are already full, with places still open on the third.

I'm also gathering interest for a 2028 journey created especially for those reconnecting with their Irish ancestry. Join the interest list below, and I'll be in touch as plans take shape.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ancestral spiritual travel?

It is travel with a deeper purpose: reconnecting with the land, sacred sites, living traditions, and foods of your ancestors. It often includes visits to ancient sites, traditional craftspeople, and experiencing the places your ancestors knew.

Which destinations do you help with?

I plan spiritual journeys and pilgrimages to destinations across Europe, with special depth in the Celtic countries, France, and Italy.

How much does a consultation cost?

The first video consultation is complimentary. After we talk, I send a personalized proposal and fee based on the research and booking support you need.

Do I need to know my family history first?

Not at all. Many people begin with only a feeling of connection to a place. We can start there.
